April 2016 saw the completion of the lighting project to illuminate the Fourth Automobile and Pedestrian Bridge across the Yenisei River, which connected the Right and Left Bank of Krasnoyarsk in the western part of the city.
The new key transport facility, built in preparation for the 2019 Winter Universiade to be held in the city, connected two sections of the federal highway.
The underlying concept in the lighting was to create a bright horizontal light dominant with contrasting white supports. As seen from afar, the lighting solution of the Fourth Bridge emphasizes the dimensions of the Siberian megacity, and in low visibility conditions it serves as a kind of navigator for ships cruising along the Yenisei.
The developed concept eliminates the risk of blinding navigators and ground vehicle drivers due to the precise selection of the intensity of each light source.
The project had to take into account complex climatic conditions like wind loading up to 35 m/s, and annual temperature differences from -45°C to +37°C.
The best option to solve the set tasks was a purpose-designed series of IntiLINE marine luminaries, 60 and 100 cm long.
The enhanced climatic design of the devices is characterized by a high degree of environmental protection (IP67), increased vibration resistance and water resistance. More than 300 IntiLED devices are smoothly fit into the bridge structure, creating a unique look in the dark and without disturbing the daily aesthetics of the construction.
The use of energy efficient IntiLED devices for the artistic lighting of the Fourth Bridge boosts traffic safety and helps significantly reduce the facility maintenance costs.
