From August 28 to 30, 2025, the Gatchina Museum-Preserve hosted the seventh edition of the international light art festival, Night of Light. This year’s theme was "PLAY," with artists presenting their interpretations of play as a fundamental way humans interact with the world.
The event continued its tradition of blending historical landscapes with modern technology and art trends. Last year’s festival featured over 50 artists from five countries and attracted 16,000 visitors who embarked on a nighttime journey through a five-kilometer-long exhibition.
INTILED served as the technical partner for the festival, providing professional lighting equipment for several key installations:
"Liftoff" Installation featuring IntiBEAM projectors: Imagery of airport runways was transformed into a large-scale cosmic hub – a symbol of travel and discovery. Classical figures acted as timeless travelers, creating an immersive experience for the audience. The project drew inspiration from the history of one of Russia’s first airfields, established in Gatchina in 1911.
"Echo of the Era" Installation featuring IntiTUBE linear luminaires: Located in the Private Garden of the palace, this piece explored the most dramatic chapter in Gatchina’s history – the destruction of the museum during World War II and its subsequent restoration. Based on the diaries of museum curator Serafima Balaeva, the installation served as a poignant tribute to the dedication and heroism of museum staff.
The ZENITH projector was used in one of the collaborative installations, while ten blue LINE luminaires were placed on bridges and throughout the park landscape, enhancing the aesthetic lighting and reinforcing the festival’s magical atmosphere.
Night of Light is a unique event where grand scale surprisingly coexists with an intimate atmosphere. We are proud that our equipment helped artists bring their bold visions to life and provided thousands of visitors with an unforgettable experience.
