On July 4th and 5th, the Design Factory in Moscow hosted the Architect's Day festival, organized by ARCHINFORM Bureau and the Moscow Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning. This year's theme, "The City as a Script: I Walk Through Moscow," invited attendees to explore architecture through the lens of cinematic art.
Architecture shapes everyday life much like movie sets shape a film, it influences behavior, sets rhythms, and scripts the narratives of urban environments. But unlike cinema, which audiences experience indirectly, architecture is lived in real time, making each person an active participant in the stories embedded within the city.
The festival program featured lectures, public talks with architects and filmmakers, architectural stand-up comedy, a film quiz, and even a table tennis tournament. Special attention was given to topics like cinematic futurism, scenarios for future cities, and new forms of urban communication.
INTILED partnered with the event, and Yevgeny Filipenko, Senior Manager at INTILED, spoke about the evolution of architectural lighting solutions. The festival concluded with an energetic architectural rave featuring a custom DJ set, bringing together urbanism professionals and enthusiasts in a vibrant, informal atmosphere.
