In 2017, a 10-story business center was built on Oktyabrskaya Embankment in St. Petersburg. It faces the Neva with its semicircular facade executed in the style of minimalism.
Asceticism of the facade solution is not accidental; the emphasis is deliberately shifted to contemplation of a simple geometric form. Gray color of the cladding material is typical for this trend. Neutral color palettes of gray, brown, or green hues are most commonly used. One of the main goals of minimalism is to create as much free space as possible.
This is achieved by using a minimum number of additional elements and working with large planes. Therefore, a laconic lighting solution implemented with the IntiLED equipment has been chosen to illuminate the business center.
Luminaires of IntiSTARK and IntiPOINT series perform the function of accenting lighting. Powerful 7-degree IntiSTARK spotlights of cool white color are located on the perimeter of the ground and ninth floor.
Light lines built up by them highlight inter-window spaces, thus forming a vertical rhythm. Decorative lighting is created by the pinpoint RGB-luminaires of the IntiPOINT series. Each luminaire is controlled individually by the standard DMX-512 protocol. This allows creating a variety of light scenarios, thus bringing dynamics to static lighting.
Minimalism is a trend in architecture, which strives for extreme simplification of the composition and negligence of decor for the sake of searching the ideal proportions and color combinations in the basic forms.Minimalism developed in the US in the 1950s as a reaction to expressionism with its emotional approach.
