In lighting design, one of the modern tendencies is the urge toward using light and color minimally. "Less is more" is the motto behind minimalism, formulated by one of its founders, the architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
The summer of 2016 saw the opening of the new Mobel Expo pavilion embodying the principal ideas of the style, "engineering clarity and specificity", high functionality and an austere approach to decor use. The complex is located within the well-known trade and exhibition venue Nakhimovsky 24, and offers a wide variety of upholstered furniture and case goods by leading manufacturers.
In order to emphasize the restrained geometry of the complex's facades, a laconic lighting solution was selected. Over 270 monochrome IntiTUBE luminaires 30 to 100 cm long create a continuous light line across the facade's upper edge. It accentuates the building's contour and produces a spectacular contrast with the dark color of the facing materials, creating a stylish vespertine image.
The planning, equipment delivery and installation were fully performed by the team at «ZEON».
