Torgovaya Square, the favorite place of rest of Peterhof residents, has an interesting history. In 1841 a bazaar continued unabated in this square. At that time a pool with a drinking fountain for the trading people was installed in the middle of the market. But a few years later the fountain was stolen and only a bowl was left. It was at once put in use in a more practical manner as a laundry facility for soldiers. The bowl did not last till nowadays.
In May 2017 a modern fountain not comparable to anything in Russia was opened on Torgovaya Square. The “smart” fountain has a video-laser projector to project images on a water screen and also works in a mode of a traditional Peterhof cracker. In addition, it can create decorative smoke and kindle lights.
Apart from the fountain, the garden square around it was improved. There appeared a large gazebo, designer wooden benches and swings, decorative mini berceaux.
The spectacular look in the evening time of the new Peterhof attraction was created by the landscape lighting concept implemented using IntiLED equipment. The project concept repeats the garden square zoning during the day highlighting the functional zones after the sunset. Warm white light (3000 K) was selected for all the equipment because it makes objects look closer and creates coziness.
The gazebo with swings is accentuated with dimmable IntiTOP series luminaires installed around its perimeter. Green vaulted trellis are lit with 10-degree IntiGROUND series spotlights that also direct the visitors to the entrance area of the garden square. The wooden benches “shine from inside” thanks to IntiTOP with 34° optics installed in them. Trees are also lit with IntiTOP series luminaires that are fixed on miniature stands at the base of the trunks.
