About the project
The architectural lighting of the Medovy Bridge in Kaliningrad is a crucial element of the comprehensive lighting concept for the bridges spanning the Pregolya River, contributing to a cohesive aesthetic for the heart of Kaliningrad.
Like the other bridges that lead to Kant Island, the Medovy Bridge features a distinctive colour scheme (blue-turquoise) that enhances its visual appeal, making it a focal point for visitors to the island. In contrast, the other river bridges employ a more traditional approach with white lighting, helping to highlight the island's bridges while preserving the unique character of each river bridge.
Lighting concept and tasks
In crafting the lighting design for the Medovy Bridge, several factors were considered: the visibility of lighting fixtures, minimizing visual clutter, glare reduction, and the overall experience of the lighting both during the day and at night, along with navigation assistance.
Implementation
For the project's execution, SPOT accent luminaires with a colour temperature of 3000K and a curtain were installed on the main façade of the bridge to illuminate both the façade and the latticework. The pylons beneath the bridge are lit by RAY RGBA spotlights equipped with protective screens.
All bridges feature four primary operating scenarios that evoke connections with the surrounding nature across different seasons, along with one event art mode. The system operates via the DMX-512 protocol.
