TThe façades of the Conservatory are adorned with more than 2,000 elements of sculptural stucco and terracotta décor. Owing to this rich ornamental detailing, the building is regarded as one of the most beautiful historic landmarks in Saint Petersburg.
The core idea of the lighting concept was to accentuate these architectural details while preserving the overall visual integrity of the building. Particular attention was given to emphasizing the selected façade color — light beige — the original color scheme in which the Conservatory existed from its opening until the major renovation in 1963.
