Moscow music theatre Helikon-Opera has celebrated its 25th anniversary on the new stage of its historical venue at Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street.
The project for restoration of the theatre under the patronage of Mayor of Moscow has taken more than 7 years. After large-scale works, its size increased 5 times, and the building has partly “gone underground”. Thanks to the theatre’s vast capabilities that include 26 movable platforms, “dancing” flying bars, stationary belfry, animation windows and, naturally, modern lighting systems, it is on a level with large stages in Moscow and even worldwide. New Stravinsky Hall for 500 spectators is a pearl of Helikon-Opera, impressing with its luxurious interior and technical equipment. The hall’s unique acoustics results from suspending ceiling that imitate night sky and gigantic movable spheres hanging from it – “helikons”, reflecting the sound. Specially designed for the theatre, apart from the acoustic function, these are used as lighting fixtures as well. In the middle of each of them, neutral white light IntiSTARK projectors with wide 60-degree optics are installed.
All lighting fixtures are managed under DMX protocol and are integrated in the theatre’s single management system. Impressive amphitheater surrounded by ancient brick facades and the imperial box, former red doorstep of the estate’s inner yard are evenly lit by IntiGROUND lighting fixtures with 30° beams and IntiRAY projectors installed on the edges. Warm white lighting goes well with the brick walls and natural wooden surfaces, creating a warm and comfortable feeling. Compact IntiSPOT lighting fixtures installed at side wall apertures covered in solid oak produce additional lighting nuance.
All the lighting was designed, supplied and installed by Garmoniya Sveta company. The new stage was presented in Moscow on November 2, 2015.
